A vállalati gazdasági koncentráció és a policentrikus városhálózat fejlődése a visegrádi országokban

Absztrakt:
A tanulmány a Visegrádi országok városhálózatának policentrikus jellegét vizsgálja a vállalati gazdasági teljesítmény térbeli eloszlása alapján. Az elemzés a Csehországra, Magyarországra, Lengyelországra és Szlovákiára kiterjedő EMIS vállalati adatbázisra épül, és a 10 millió eurót meghaladó árbevételű közép- és nagyvállalatok körét veszi figyelembe. A kutatás három mutatóra összpontosít: az árbevételre, a hitelállományra és az összes eszközállományra. A 2023. évi helyzetkép mellett a tanulmány a 2019. és 2023. évi adatok összevetésével elemzi a fővárosi koncentráció és a regionális központok gazdasági súlyának változását. Az eredmények szerint a V4 országok mindegyikében jelentős fővárosi dominancia érvényesül, ennek mértéke és szerkezete azonban országonként eltérő. Magyarországon továbbra is erősen monocentrikus szerkezet figyelhető meg, míg Lengyelország településhálózati szempontból kiegyensúlyozottabb képet mutat, ugyanakkor a vizsgált időszakban a vállalati koncentráció Varsó javára erősödött. Csehország és Szlovákia e két pólus között helyezkedik el. A tanulmány amellett érvel, hogy a városhálózat morfológiai policentrikussága és a vállalati gazdasági koncentráció nem szükségképpen esik egybe. Az eredmények hozzájárulnak a közép-európai városhálózatok gazdasági szerkezetének jobb megértéséhez, és empirikus alapot nyújtanak a policentrikusságról folytatott területpolitikai vitákhoz.
Abstract:
This paper examines the polycentric character of urban networks in the Visegrad countries based on the spatial distribution of corporate economic performance. The analysis relies on the EMIS company database covering Czechia, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia, and focuses on medium-sized and large firms with annual revenues exceeding EUR 10 million. Three indicators are analysed: revenues, outstanding debt, and total assets. In addition to the 2023 cross-sectional picture, the study compares data from 2019 and 2023 in order to assess changes in capital city concentration and the economic weight of regional centres. The results show that all four countries display substantial capital city dominance, although its extent and structure differ across countries. Hungary remains strongly monocentric, while Poland presents a more balanced settlement structure in morphological terms; at the same time, corporate concentration increased further in favour of Warsaw during the study period. Czechia and Slovakia occupy an intermediate position between these two poles. The paper argues that morphological polycentricity and corporate economic concentration do not necessarily coincide. The findings contribute to a better understanding of the economic structure of Central European urban networks and provide empirical input to policy debates on polycentric development.
